Second rules update
Another round of changes is in the rules document. In short:
- Consumables: all non-equippable pet summon items (for example Spider Swarm and the Compact Harvest Reaper Kit) are banned. Student Fodder and Flash Bomb are banned.
- Items: equippable pet summon items and trinkets (for example Dog Whistle) are permitted. Truthseeker's Bow, Green Whelp Armor, and Goblin Sapper Charge are banned.
- Transmog must be disabled during the tournament.
- Stealth openers: stealth classes always get the uncontested opener in a duel. That is the first offensive action, including abilities such as Cheap Shot or Blood Fury and trinkets such as Barov's Peasant Caller. Opponents must stand still until it has been initiated: no spinning your character, and Hunters can't place traps. A player may pre-activate abilities such as Intimidate, but may not disrupt the opener.
- Buffs before a duel: only class self-buffs are permitted. Players may buff themselves with items and consumables before a duel begins, as long as they aren't from another class and don't break another rule.
- Pre-HoTs (heal-over-time spells applied before a duel begins) are banned. Applying Power Word: Shield before a duel begins is permitted.
- Prize money: the total pool is $100,000. $50,000 goes to the champion, and the rest is divided evenly among the top-placing player of each of the 9 classes, $5,555 each. For the champion's class, that share goes to the second-highest-placing player of the class. Classes that tie split their share evenly.

Registration is closed
Registration closed at 10:00 a.m. PT on October 2. If you didn't register before then, you won't be able to compete in this event, and the admins can't make exceptions, so please don't message them about it. There will be more events in the future.

No further Legacy System rule change
Blizzard has announced that all testers will be granted 16 Legacy Points in the beta in a future week. The admins expect that to happen before the event, so the Legacy points rule needs no further modification.

4,000 registrations, and a closing date
The Forever Open reached 4,000 registrations, far beyond what the team expected. That is also the limit of how many players the staff can manage during qualifiers, so registration closes on October 2 at 10:00 a.m. PT. If you want to compete with another race or class, register that character before then.

Legacy System changes are coming
A few Legacy talents conflict with the goals of this beta-limited event. The admins plan to change the ruleset to heavily reduce the impact of some Legacy perks, and they're still working out the details. They're sharing this early so nobody keeps grinding Legacy perks at the cost of other preparation. The final rule will be announced in Discord once it's settled.

First rules update
The first round of rule changes is in the rules document. In short:
- Buffs: only your own class's self-buffs, plus buffs applied during a duel. Items and consumables are fine once a duel has begun, as long as they aren't from another class and don't break another rule. World buffs, temporary quest or objective buffs, and campfire buffs are banned.
- Shamans may start a duel with up to four totems placed.
- Stealth classes, including Druids, get an uncontested opener. Opponents must stand still without turning until it begins.
- Warriors get an uncontested opener unless they face a stealth class, whose opener takes priority.
- An opener is the first offensive action: an ability, racial, item, or trinket. When a Druid opens with a cast such as Entangling Roots or Starfire, opponents may act when the cast begins.
- A player loses the uncontested opener after waiting more than 25 seconds once the opponent becomes hostile. Delays caused by the opponent don't count against a stealth class.
- Stealth against stealth: neither player gets an uncontested opener.
- Pre-HoTs, Hunter pre-trapping, and Warlock pre-sacrificing are banned. Hunters may place traps once the countdown reaches zero and the opponent becomes hostile.
- Gold buying is banned. A confirmed case means immediate disqualification and a lifetime ban from the organizers' events.
- Less downtime between duels, with a penalty for delaying.
- Slumber Sand and Furbolg Medicine Pouch are banned.

Registration and eligibility
Make sure your character is registered on Raider.IO. Characters created before the official tournament announcement on September 27 aren't eligible, even if they were registered afterward, and creation times are checked before tournament day. A character created after 1:00 p.m. Central that day is fine even if you started leveling before you registered, as long as it meets the other requirements in the rules. Set your Discord nickname to your character's name so admins can verify you.
